Historians believe the names were interchanged because of Bhupinder Singh's womanizing habits. With a record of many wives, Singh's notorious behavior fits well with the eloping scenario. Scandal Point doesn't have a major attraction marking its position on Shimla Ridge. Instead, locals find the exact spot by locating the intersection of the Ridge and Mall roads.
